...if you had to guess, how did GW get this particular greenish-bluish fish-scale armor color for the Van Saars? I'm thinking some mix of Leadbelcher and Nihilakh Oxide, but I can't be sure.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. They vet rarely mix paints for studio colors, so I was speculating that it was a new paint or a line of color metallics. But the release is in like 2 weeks and there is no paint listed. So who knows!

Could be Coelia Greenshade dropped into Leadbelcher?

Ah, good call. I wonder if Duncan is going to help us here. Maybe just a traditional Waystone Green glaze?

OK. Looking at the newer photos, I think I see what is going on. It is Incubi Darkness, Nuln Oil, and Sotek Green with what I think might be a very fine layer of Gauss Blaster Green on the extreme highlights. Not an exotic combination, but he kicker is that it is all painted in a NMM way. They are doing something with Castellan Green on the weapons.

But these new pics look much less metallic than the old ones...

You're like a sommelier for miniature paints.
