What board games are you BUYING?
As for my recent buys, I've been trying to stick only to either expansions to stuff I own or games that I have at least some confidence that I'll play within the next 2 years. However, thanks to our dear European friends apparently deciding that a strong Euro was an impediment to properly scolding the more sun-soaked members of the Euro-Zone, I broke this rule in spectacular fashion by buying THE penultimate example of a game I'll almost certainly never get to the table but have just always kinda wanted to own nonetheless: the S.F.3D wargame published by Hobby Japan.
I stumbled across a badly worded eBay listing from an Italian seller when checking for new Six Angles games that turned out to be for a complete, unpunched copy of this relic of ancient hex-n-chit style wargaming--at 125 euros shipped, I just couldn't pass it up. (What's the "ultimate example" of a game I'll never get to the table? Why, the even more ridiculously expensive and hard to find follow-up/expansion game: "Operation Faserei". There are a couple copies that are near-permanent ebay listings, but my interest wanes very quickly the closer the price approaches $500.... Jesus Christ. )

Wish I had known you were on the lookout for a Kingmaker though as I recently dropped a spare 2nd ed. copy in the charity box. Magic Realm aside, any others you're seriously hunting for? I usually use Secret Satan to thin the herd but I missed out this year.
Right now, I think my AH wishlist list is down to:
Magic Realm
B-17
Gunslinger
History of the World: AH 1993 edition
Kremlin AH edition
Legend of Robin Hood
Mystic Wood
PanzerBlitz
Rail Baron
Source of the Nile
Wrasslin'
As for Twixt, I will probably at "some" point go on a 3M collection spree.

I snagged it off Ebay pretty cheaply after some discussion here on the Fort about it. Of course, someone just made an updated Vassal module for it. (I mean, in like the last few weeks).

Ill ping you after the first of the year...Apparently, I have to buy these kids presents instead of games for myself.

As an aside, I was an avid Boot Hill player waaaaay back in the mid-to-late eighties. Love that fucking game. Not that it's related in any way other than being Western.

Welp, here's a thing I never knew existed that I now need to have. Dammit.

Aaaaand here's the sequel/expansion that you didn't know existed either but won't be able to resist once you land the original.

I know sooner or later I'll find a copy for under $250 and probably be unable to resist its pull. But with all known copies in the $450+ range at the moment, I can maintain the facade that is my [alleged] willpower....

Maybe if we make enough noise FFG will reprint them and then two years from now we can all buy it on the holiday sale.

Hard to pass it up at that price. Great game that seems to be dying a slow death at retail.
