This article will look at an individual scenario of Arkham Horror: The Card Game. These will be my impressions after playing through the scenario and will be focusing on the mechanics and how those reinforce the story elements of a given scenario. These articles will contain extensive spoilers and assume a familiarity with the terms and mechanics of the game. Please do not read on if you have not played the scenario in the title yet.

In addition this piece will contain references to all of the Path to Carcosa campaign and may spoil some elements from previous scenarios.

Four full campaigns in and I think Dim Carcosa may be the weakest finale of them. You can see repeated threads in the others, the feeling of being lost and in something outside your comprehension, but they feel bigger in scope, more cinematic and epic. In Dim Carcosa, half the mystery is gone as all locations begin revealed.

On the other hand, the narrative here is probably the strongest of all finales. I enjoyed flipping locations and revisiting old scenarios for a few paragraph, and the elimination of the horror loss is more than a gimmick as several cards take advantage of it.

Still a great campaign with only one real weak spot. Just wish the finish were a little stronger.

I found that my involvement in the story carried me through any issues with the final scenario. Have to say I've quite enjoyed every time I've played through it. I think Carcosa is still the strongest campaign story wise, though Circle might take that crown for me on some more playthroughs. Haven't started Dream Eaters yet.
