Worldspanner Factions on Kickstarter Now

The unique adventure board game is back! Winner of 29 awards including eleven #1 Game of All Time/Game of Year/Best Reprint.

BASICS
Worldspanner Factions is an imaginative adventure game hiding a deep strategy and tactics challenge. You can play for the strategy or play for the adventure, and have a great time doing either.
Factions is the perfected and streamlined successor to Duel of Ages.
This series has won 29 game awards including eleven #1 Game of All Time, Game of the Year, and Best Reprint.
Worldspanner Factions comes in three sets. Set 1 is the base game Set 2 doubles content. Set 3 contains the campaign and co-op/solo play.

GAMEPLAY
Factions has five modes of play: Competitive Team play for 2-8 players, Co-op or Solo Campaign against a groundbreaking enemy AI, and Co-op or Solo Competitive play against that same AI. This makes Factions one of the broadest gameplay experience.
Factions is a very rare Team Co-op game for 2-8 players. Because team players take their turn at the same time as their mates, playing with 8 players doesn’t take any more time than playing with 4. (Team Co-op means a game where the teammates play an integrated side and not have separate turns. In this case, each player has their own heroes but they play their turn simultaneously with their mates.)
Teams do not need an equal number of players, 2v3 and 3v4 works great.
With the above two items, you can see this is a game uniquely suited for 5 to 8 players.

AFFORDABLE MONSTER GAME
This game has over 174 Heroes and Foe Heroes. It has over 850 cards, 24 punchboards, and a giant array of puzzle-piece map sections. We could have turned this into yet another giant closet-filling monster game but we don’t want that. Budgets are tighter and closets and shelves don’t grow. So we took some pretty unusual steps and got our price for the entire series all-in to be less than $200, at $179.

MINIATURES
Another unique aspect is miniatures in the game. There are 111 unique Heroes and 63 Foe Heroes in the game, plus 13 minions. If we provided even the minimum 111 miniatures, the game would be very pricey and take up a closet. So, we chose to open up the miniatures aspect to third-party modelers that can provide STL model files or printed miniatures in a free market system. If you are an independent modeler/artist and you want a free license to provide miniatures/model files, we’ll set you up. Modelers have already created over 30 miniature models and there will be at least 40 more by the time Factions ships. It’s 2023, the 3D print revolution is upon us, and we are embracing it and independent artists to the fullest.

MASSIVE PLAYER MODDING
You can add your own heroes, maps, campaigns, treasures into the game, and we supply the tools. You can go to our website, design a hero, have it game-balanced, and print out the same exact card format from the game with standees. Every character from every book, movie, game, and imagination can be in the game. Factions is like a friendly Borg without the implants.
And this is why you can play the game with a million miniatures.

OTHER UNIQUE ASPECTS
Factions uses a rare card system that both resolves game results swiftly and balances out the luck.
Factions contains combat, but you don’t win directly with combat. So there is a wonderfully subtle maneuver and resource management aspect of the game.
And when you play the campaign, you will understand why we consider it a unique experience. It is the crown jewel of the game system and full of surprises.
The AI used in the campaign is ground-breaking because it isn’t just a random action decided by a turned card. The foes react to the current situation, but still remain highly unpredictable.
In the future, a selection of heroes made by the fans will be integrated into game expansions.

There’s more unique features, but you can see why there’s nothing else like Factions our there, and few games as ambitious in design. And yet the rulebook is simple, just 11k words (see the chart attached).
