There Will Be Games
Unfortunately, not every game is amazing. And some games are decent but just don't mesh with your taste. I bring you 5 games that I didn't like! See, I'm not just all sunshine and rainbows. I can wreck stuff too!
Also I'm terribly sorry for hurting these games's feelings.

Log in to comment Hi, Grant. I agreed (past tense) with you to a certain extent on TE Dinosaurs. When I wrote about it for TWBG ( therewillbe.games/articles-boardgame-rev...pic-dinosaurs-review ), I had played a few games and had a similar reaction to its mechanical nature. But, after playing a few more games, I've begun to appreciate the intricacies of the design and the variety created by both those mechanics and the Research deck. When I look at my stack of TE stuff, I now think Dinosaurs is somewhere near the top of the "Want to play that soon" pile. But you're absolutely right about differing tastes. For example, I find TE Galaxies to be my least favorite of the series (although still a decent game.)
I'm a huge Red Raven Games fanboy, and I love Ryan Laukat's art. That being said ... I don't own Icon: The Boardgame (aka Deep Vents), nor do I want to. I read the rules and watched a couple of how-to-play videos and I was so put off by the visual design. Don't get me wrong, the artwork of the deep sea creatures is beautiful (as expected). But I hate the way they try to cram so many game mechanics into those hexes. Maybe if the hexes were bigger??? Eh, I doubt even that would help much. You're still stuck parsing and decoding icons. I suspected that this is a game that would take a while to internalize, and I doubt that I would ever get to that point, which means every time I played ... I'd be looking up icons in a rulebook. That is not a fun activity.
Great video, thanks!!
