The new version comes with a timer, and it's in the rules? Seems to me you just ignore that rule.

No, there is no timer in this game. After I get this all-in-one edition, I want to run a big game for my friends. At least four players, and maybe as many as ten. Most of my boardgaming friends are Firefly fans, but only one of them has played this game several times. So my initial post in this thread was possible ways to speed up the pace of the play if we have a big group.
This Firefly game shouldn't need a timer. The basic turn structure is fairly simple, though there are some chrome rules that add a little complexity for the sake of theme. But there is pickup-and-delivery activity across a big board, and an increasing amount of open information on the table as the game goes on.

This morning, on my way elsewhere, I happened to notice a large, unexpected box sitting on my front steps. Unlike the previous mystery box (which turned out to be Vampire: Chapters), this one was identified on the outside as the 10th Anniversary edition of Firefly: the Game.

Every expansion, including some new content. The rulebook is about 60 pages, but it contains numerous photos and a large type font. Instead of boards, this set includes a rollup playmat that includes the expansion boards and also the expansion contacts and supply points. There are enough figures and ships for a 10-player game. Not only are the token trays labeled with icons for the tokens, but there are four identical trays so you can spread them around the table for easier accessibility to all players. The card trays are also labeled with icons, which is good, because I will remove the cards from the trays and put them in card holders to save on table space. There are also a bunch of new solo adventure scenarios.
