My friend Matt and I tried out BGA this weekend. We played Abandon All Artichokes and Happy City just to kind of get the lay of the land and then Innovation. It's a slick interface and they have a ton of games in a bunch of different styles. It's a lot less clunky than Yucata.

I'm daveexmachina there if anyone wants to play something. I'm in front of the computer on weekdays from 8-5 eastern, so I can play close to real-time then, or can schedule a PM session for something.

Edit: I almost always play async/turn-based. If everyone is online at the same time, then it's just like a realtime game. But if someone needs to step away, then they don't get timed out and the game can continue either turn-based, or back to pseudo-realtime if everyone can get online again.

For those of you who like to shoot at each other, there are two wargames on BGA, Unconditional Surrender which I haven't played, and Talon, which I've played plenty. The Talon implementation is in Alpha, but fully playable.

I have an account on BGA, same username as here - mezike. Wouldn’t exactly describe myself as active on there though, I just logged on now and received an award for ‘coming back from the dead.’

Same with me, thought I'd camp my username at the very least but that's about the extent of it.

I do most of my online playing on Yucata as I prefer the really slow, over-think-your-turns, style of play there. I'll occasionally play turn-based games on BGA as well but generally play fast, "waste 5 minutes"-type games there. I recently played a game of Connect 4 that took less than two minutes to complete. Despite this, my opponent wrote four messages telling me to "hurry up."

This used to happen to me all the time on Microsoft's old Internet Checkers, The message (chosen from a pre-written list) was "I'm Waiting", and it always gave me the sense of playing checkers against a Genesis-era Sonic the Hedgehog tapping his foot and checking his watch. I actively avoid playing Internet games with complete strangers these days. People are insufferable.
