He didn’t create Birdman, the worst superhero movie ever. For that he is a legend.
95 is a long life. Seemed like he was being taken advantage of in his declining years. Better to go before the mind does, when people can remember the good.

It won't stick. Marvel will bring him back with the inevitable reboot within two years.
Too soon for that joke??

It always seemed like Stan Lee was a fan of his readers, which is kind of a special quality. He seemed genuinely invested in the enjoyment of the people who enjoyed his work and what came after. And not in a sort of snooty fans-only way, but in a way that made me feel like he wanted the stories to be for everyone.
It's kind of special that he lived long enough to see so many generations of new fans, and to see Marvel really become the juggernaut it is now.

My favorite Stan Lee story was told to me by video game musician Tommy Tallarico.
Tommy is a HUGE Spider-Man fan and he owns every issue of the comics and has a room in his house dedicated to the character, complete with a life-sized statue and a pinball machine. He got to work with Stan who did VO for the Spider-Man video game for the PS1 back in the 90's. When he met Stan, he said "Stan, I'm a huge fan of your work and I have an entire room dedicated to Spider-Man" and showed him a show of said room.
Stan took one look at the photo and said "Kid... you have a problem."
