Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× Welcome to one of the oldest board game communities on the Internet. That may sound like hyperbole but it really is true.

We are really happy to have you here. Unfortunately, being online we can't bond with you over a game so you'd know right away how happy we are to meet you. For now, you'll just have to take our word for it.

This site has always thrived on lively discussion and spirited but civil debate. We hope that newcomers here will find a welcoming atmosphere where game enthusiasts of all levels of experience and commitment will have something to add to the conversation. You never need to prove your “gamer cred” here. Whether you have been playing board games for a few months or a few decades; whether you have a huge collection or a small one; whether you have been a member here for years or just joined today – your opinion is valued here.

We know that it can be intimidating to jump into a new community and want to assure you that this is NOT the kind of forum where people will tell you that you posted something in the wrong place, or that you should have found an existing thread on the topic, or that you shouldn’t have resurrected an old thread.

So if you find a thread or an article discussion that interests you, whether it is old or new, feel free to jump in. Want to discuss a specific game or board gaming related topic just start a new topic. If you don’t know which forum to put it in, just make your best guess (we really don’t care all that much. It’s easy enough for a moderator to move it or merge it, if necessary).

A good place to get started is by introducing yourself in the “New Members Introduce Yourself” thread (below) or by telling us what you have been playing in the “What BOARD GAME(s) have you been playing?" thread ( therewillbe.games/forum/35-mos-eisley-ca...ave-you-been-playing ).

Have fun, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Hello everybody! I'm coming here because I've become fed up with asking questions on bgg (where i am Known as super_bruno), trying to have a normal conversation and being answered by people insisting on diagnosing what's wrong with me, and telling me such insightful things such as : "you don't like what you think you like". I think all those answers are hilarious, but it sometimes could be great to discuss in a normal manner.

So can I be your friend?

Sure. Did you bring pie?
What's on your mind?

Sorry, no pie, but a beer...

What´s on my mind? Have to do a post-mortem for a concert that didn't go too well.

My choir. But I am not the director, I sing as a tenor. Founded with my girlfriend 5 years ago. The big concert is coming in a month, and to have so much difficulty so late in the season is a lot of stress.

Look for "choeur baobab" on youtube if you are interested.

I used to play in the University of Kansas Orchestra so I know the feeling, except I played the violin (along with 30 others, so I could blend in a fake a bit if needed).

What genre or style is that? I'm very limited with choral exposure and I can't say I've heard a group like yours.

We sing traditional music from all over the world. A cappella. Our lofty goal is to promote cultural diversity.

Yeah, being so many does allow you to cheat a bit from time to time. Since my choir is pretty small, only 3 tenors, it´s difficult to fake without being noticed.

Lofty but a good one.
And that's why I always felt bad for the oboe or piccolo players. Being the only one there was no where to hide...But they were damn good.

So what games are you into?

Mmm,I like thematic games, but not complex ruleset. Tried a few big games from ffg: arkham, descent 2.0, mansions of madness. But the rules kept getting in the way. I will regret forever getting rid of my talisman 2nd edition.

Ninja, legdnd of the scorpion clan is one of my favorite. Also got my hands on monsterpocalypse recently and cańt wait to try it out. Love cyclades. And elder sign. And also ticket to ride, fresco. Bonhanza, merchants and marauders, santiago de cuba. Flashpoint fire rescie, shadow hunters

You'll fit in then...Just jump in on conversations, and be ready to back up your claims...if you say something stupid that is. Myself, I gotta be hitting the sack. Head's been aching all day...Just getting over one cold and I think another is creeping in.

I didn't dig Scorpion Clan so much primarily because one player just draws on a paper for the majority of the game, smirking evilly and glowering. I really don't think those hidden movement games are that much fun...Scotland Yard is balls too.

For me it is one of the most thematic game I have played. Instead of a math deduction thing like scotland yard or letters of whitechapel, it's a game of risk taking, flirting with danger, patience, and striking hard when the time is right.

Welcome to the Fort, Gogol! Happy to have you, and glad to see you posting!

You mention lots of great games. If you like more thematic games that revolve around hidden movement, what do you think of Fury of Dracula? It's definitely my favorite hidden movement game, though maybe not because of the hidden movement.

Also, I see that your choir has "Baobab" in its name. Little bit of Senegalese influence?

Sorry to hear that. The Fantasy Flight edition is quite good, but lately I have been wanting to play 2nd edition again.

And welcome to the Fort. You should upload an avatar. No avatar, plus thread title "Can I be your friend" made me think this was going to be Russian porn spam.
