I'm stealing the last two posts and starting a thread. There's a good discussion there that's bigger than Kingdom Death.

Didn't find a good copy of Magic Realm at BGG.CON this year at the flea market, but did score another GW collection for a good cheap price.

Nice.

Did you enjoy BGG.con this year? Dallas isn't far, I should probably go and do it.

Yeah, it was fun. Has gotten pretty big, but it's easy to find folks to play anything. Even Loter was there this year.

Let us know how it is, please! I loved reading Frank's impressions.

Just to provide a contrast with the good Dr., I'd much rather spend an unusual amount of money on an unusual (good) game. Something that is trying to blaze some new ground and not being 100% successful rather than a great genre game in an established niche. The city/season thing sound cool and the roguelike aspect of being so hard to survive and permadeath is interesting.

I could do without the miniatures, but oh well.

That's exactly why I bought it. I am much more likely to buy a game with an off the beaten path theme and/or setting.

Chapel: Check this link, there's two copies of Magic Realm. First copy is 76$, other copy was unsold in the auction and is complete, 1st owner, etc.

So after playing Hyperborea at Trashfest I figured I would eventually wait to play Josh Look's copy again. Cardhaus had the game onsale for $29.99 today... So now it's being delivered to my "Dragon of the Black Pool" private estate via the Pork Chop Express.

I picked up Merchant of Venus for $25 from my local game store with some early Christmas money from my mother in law. Saved me money from spending extra money on shipping.

The proprietor said he got them up direct from FFG. I guess being in the FFG network has its advantages.

Something tells me they offer retailers better prices during Black Friday as well, to keep from pissing them off. If I had a copy of Merchants of Venus on the shelf that I paid $40 for and the publisher was selling it for $25 I'd be pissed off.

Ordered new Fury of Dracula, Mission: Red Planet, Kemet expansion, and the Argent expansion this weekend. I thought about picking up Clockwork Wars on the CSI sale too but I decided my current obsession with Blood Rage and Cthulhu Wars is enough for the DOAM game type.

Sounds like Cthulhu Wars original kickstarter will be shipping next week - will be watching ebay and other markets and seeing if I can grab some of the expansion stuff. I'd love to play my copy more but it needs a fifth faction to work in most situations for me.

Robber Knights for $7.50 from Amazon. If the game isn't worth a few plays, it's got 120 coloured wooden discs that I know I can use for P&P projects, and cheaper than buying packs of them.

Tanga's siren-song lured me into purchasing a few stocking stuffers. I saw that Ares Project was $8.99 with free shipping. I've been wanting to try that one for awhile so I bought it. What's the story on it? It seems like a two-player game that I'd like and I dig its FASA vibe.

Man, you could have had my copy for nothing.

Combining two copies might be interesting. I wonder what happens when you play the same faction against itself?

I was gifted some money, so I went out to the terrific local store we have in Plano to check out their holiday sale. Their main deal is that if you get two games you get a third one free, but there were also some heavily discounted titles out there that were on sale this month. Chief among them was $40 for Imperial Assault, a game I still haven't played. I have been curious for a long time though, so since it was so cheap I grabbed a copy of that, along with Boba Fett, because you can never have enough Boba Fett.

They also were selling the core set of Star Wars: Armada for the same price, and I almost made that choice instead. But the add-ons are more expensive for Armada, and being a longer, two-player-only game, it really wasn't a hard choice.
